Balcao Stories (Red Chair)

Ever since we can remember, we’ve been charmed by the quintessential Goan balcão. It isn’t just about its architectural beauty but the fact that it bears witness to a myriad stories exchanged through the seasons. On our many walks we’d often find people and pets perched on a beautiful red sopo, engaging in good ol’ neighbourly banter or simply watching the world go by. While the signature balcão undergoes a metamorphosis of sorts, making its way into newer homes and restaurants, our deep-rooted love for it still holds. With the artist’s shared love for the same and her unique vision, she creates a version bathed in terracotta hues and featuring some interesting elements. The vintage chandelier, the red chair and the pineapple all hint towards a day that needs to be spent on the porch. This organic cotton shirt truly captures the essence of the sunny, susegad life best lived in the company of birdsong and cutlet pao.
