All about Siesta o'Clock
Siesta o’Clock is a Goa-based slow fashion clothing brand creating small-batch printed shirts for men, women’s printed shirts, and flowy dresses with pockets for women in organic cotton and other sustainable fabrics. Handmade in small batches, with artist prints inspired by the sunshine state, our pieces capture the spirit and the warmth of Goa - all the colour, the sense of joy
You can shop our collections online across India or visit our Goa boutiques at Socorro and Assagao, North Goa.
Here’s a big hello from Rene & Vaibhav who love themselves a strong coffee but also a long nap. We started out as writers / journalists but one of us (guess who!) developed an all-consuming love for funky printed shirts. With Goa as our muse, we started Siesta o’Clock and decided we’d throw ourselves into heaps of printed fabrics that would make it to the sewing machine.
We ensure that Siesta o'Clock shirts are as soft as a cloud and as breezy as a day at the beach so you can have a little fun in life; even if that means showing up at a meeting in a fish print shirt.
What started as a search for cute prints for men’s shirts evolved into a whole journey. Some time in, we realised we wanted the prints to speak our story. Goa had held us in a loving embrace and was brimming with the promise of unfiltered sunshine and lush, flower-laden meadows.
How could one look at a sunset and not want to capture it? How could we give people a peek into Goa that wasn’t on popular itineraries or tour maps? Would they like a piece of the sunshine state that loved its beaches as much as it loved its villages? We often wondered.
With our first Fontainhas print - painstakingly brought to life - we knew we were on to something. Then it was as if we put one foot in front of another. Flitted from one print to another. Worked with one talented artist after another.
Today, our mood board is replete with all things that bring us joy. All things inspired by Goa. From sleepy balcão cats to village taverns, local breads to cashew apples, serene beaches to bustling weekend markets - there’s a piece of wearable art in our Artist Edit collection that comes meticulously stitched and packed from our local workshop to your wardrobe.
Come harsh summer days, come relentless rains, our small workshop in Goa is what keeps our whole operation together. Without the elves who fuss over every button and every stitch, none of this small-batch Siesta o’Clock goodness would make it to you in time.
All our clothing is crafted by hand in Goa, often on old sewing machines that throw a fit when overworked. The air is thick with typical Goa humidity and there’s a regular hum from the machines; you might catch an old melody playing… it’s all part of everyday life.
As a slow fashion brand committed to sustainability, we work with organic cotton and other sustainable fabrics wherever possible. The “Made in Goa” aspect is deeply stitched into our brand story because how else do you make slow and give back to a land that’s given you so much?
When you buy Siesta o’Clock clothing, you take back a piece of the sunshine state.
After dipping our toes in the online space, we waited till we felt ready to take the plunge. Once the time seemed right, we went around collecting a myriad lamps, a truckload of plants and some beautiful wall art. All the things that co-inhabit our Socorro studio. We have a curated playlist to keep you company. We have soft, warm lighting. We have a couch where you can plonk your tired soul after a hot day out in the Goan sun… but most importantly, we have all the Siesta clothes we’ve ever created to browse and buy.
At this store-that-wants-to-be-a-living-room, you’ll discover not just our best sellers and new additions but a couple of sale pieces that we rotate regularly. Aside from that, there’s an assortment of bits and bobs that we source from brands we love - ceramic jewellery, handmade dolls, postcards and fabric trinkets.
Come, walk yourselves in. If we’re not making ourselves coffee or grabbing a quick lunch, we’ll always be up for chit-chat.
Socorro feels like a stretch with your packed Goa itinerary? We hear you. You’re probably lunching and brunching around the hotspots of Assagao, Vagator, Anjuna, Siolim, Mandrem and co. And guess what, we found ourselves a sunny little spot at Assagao! Tucked away inside Jugnu Bar & Kitchen, perfect for a little drink and shop! While you wait out your meal and enjoy those bottomless drinks, hop over to the Siesta o’Clock store. It’s the same unhurried vibe but a more carnival-like set-up. Think buntings and cute bamboo bags and a gorgeous plumeria tree running right through the middle. Lots of funky men’s shirts, breezy dresses and cutesy kids clothes await…
We like people to shop at peace and browse without a care because ‘hey man, what’s the rush?’ Come say hello and catch a break. We’ll either be at Socorro or at Assagao!
